Rangeview is envisioned as a series of differentiated precincts that build on the light rail transit investment in Seton, the rural landscape legacy of the area, and the visual connection with the Bow River Valley and Rocky Mountains. An open space network integrates the whole plan and its kit-of-parts, resulting in clearly identifiable urban forms, creating a powerful placemaking gesture that would establish a unique identity for this part of Calgary, and celebrating the last urban footprint edge against the prairie.
The Vision Plan strives to:
- Approach site design and programming holistically, transcending individual ownership boundaries;
- Focus density in the Town precinct with a density transect across the site;
- Create a diversity of open spaces, provide a unique brand and value proposition, define organize amenities, and promote a high quality of life;
- Knit together a street network that maximizes passive energy, differentiates precincts, minimizes street size, integrates stormwater amenity, disperses traffic, and is market responsive; and,
- Aggregate local retail as community gathering places at the precinct hubs.
